Training with Kuntal has been life-changing for me. And it happened at the time I needed it the most. And all that I have learnt from him, I wouldn’t forget for life.
It was almost 2yrs postpartum when I started training with Kuntal, and at that point my life surrounded my child 24*7 and I had forgotten to take care of myself, my body, my nutrition and my fitness and I was often feeling bad about how I wasn’t in any good shape compared to my fittest best just 3 years prior to that. Initial few calls with Kuntal helped me with some important lessons: He reassured me that at this point, as an actively breastfeeding mother, weight loss wasn’t my first goal but I needed to focus on strengthening. He helped me change my routine sustainably, focussing on stabilizing one meal at a time, helping me choose the best sustainable diet choices in all different situations, working out 3-days a week and increasing my strength gradually. Regular weekly calls with him helped me stay on track and work on overcoming practical challenges. Kuntal has been so considerate throughout and all the advices that he has given me with regards to balancing nutrition and workout helped me navigate to a very happy healthy and fit point in my life, breaking the plateau that I was stuck on for 2yrs. And truly, even now when I make choices in my fitness journey, I think only in the way he inspired me to think. I have recommended many of my friends to train under him and 10/10 I would continue to do so.

I started training with Kuntal a couple of years ago. I came to him with poor nutritional and training advice from another trainer. His coaching and mentorship have been transformational. He has taught me the basics of both resistance training and nutrition. I workout less and eat simpler than earlier with better results. I began nutritional counselling with Kuntal in 2021, seeking a sustainable lifestyle plan to release weight. While I’d successfully released weight in the past, I hadn’t fully understood the factors behind my fat loss or how to maintain it. Despite turning plant-based in 2015 and losing 21 kilos on my own, I still struggled to keep the weight off. My previous approach to weight loss revolved around restrictive eating, one-meal-a-day diets, and categorising foods as good or bad. So, when I finally sought answers and guidance on my nutrition journey, I had no idea I’d find someone who would change my life forever.
I had been following Kuntal since I turned plant-based and had the memorable opportunity to trek with him, too. Still, I was intrigued when I saw Kuntal on Instagram promoting his nutritional counselling. His muscular build and six-pack abs caught my eye, mainly as leaner, non-muscular counterparts often surrounded me in the plant-based community. I’d resigned myself to the belief that plant-based individuals couldn’t build muscle through diet alone, but Kuntal inspired me to reach out. We connected quickly and began scheduling Zoom calls. During the peak of the pandemic, Kuntal’s coaching became a steady source of support and guidance. His balanced approach helped me unlearn many ingrained eating habits as he reintroduced me to essential food groups and taught me to view my plate through a fresh lens. Instead of seeing food as a restrictive diet, I began embracing it as a lifestyle.
One of the first myths Kuntal shattered was the idea that salads alone make a nutritionally complete meal. For the first time, I realised the importance of eating meals that are not only nutritious but also satisfying. I was so wrapped up in the mindset that if I was satiated with my meal, I would have overeaten and would gain weight. Instead, Kuntal made me understand that a balanced meal can fuel my body and soul.
Another significant revelation I learned was that I was over-accessing a very scarce resource called ‘willpower’. Kuntal said, “Do you realise your entire life has been fueled by willpower to reach your weight-loss goals? But willpower won’t sustain you because it’s in a limited capacity. Hence, you must use other driving forces or emotions to motivate yourself. So why not use knowledge as your source of strength.” This insight changed everything for me. I stopped blindly restricting myself and focused on educating myself, which became an enduring source of motivation.
As much as Kuntal’s coaching focused on balanced eating, he also focused on balanced exercise. The unique way his counselling taught me sustainability was by choosing what gave me joy. I never questioned if I loved my current exercise regime because I’d followed a rigid regimen for years, believing there was only one “right” way. But with Kuntal’s guidance, I began exploring different forms of movement; under Kuntal’s guidance, I realised I could explore various forms of exercise, whether dancing, walking, trekking, or climbing mountains! And I began to look for my calling. With every session with him, I got closer to reconnecting with my ultimate passion: weightlifting and resistance training. Today, I can’t thank Kuntal enough for leading me to the gym; I wake up excited to work out, feeling accomplished and content.
Over our year together, Kuntal was always available, accessible, and supportive. He taught me valuable lessons about progress through regular meetings, reminding me that it isn’t linear but follows a curve. He prepared me for the ups and downs of my journey, encouraging me to let go of perfectionism and embrace change.
That year of counseling proved fruitful in every aspect of my life. I see Kuntal’s guidance as a pillar of support, spanning food, exercise, and life itself, much like the legs of a table. I continue to apply his knowledge of nutrition and fitness daily. For me, his counselling went beyond nutritional coaching—it was life coaching.
Ultimately, Kuntal’s nutritional counselling transformed my approach to food and exercise, giving me a sustainable path that nourishes both body and soul. If you’re looking for guidance that goes beyond temporary results and fosters true, lasting change, I highly recommend Kuntal as a counsellor.

Treks and expeditions
I was lucky to be a participant of a vegan Kilimanjaro climb led by Kuntal. Kuntal did all the legwork to coordinate with our guide company to make sure we had delicious vegan meals, create a packing list, arrange transportation/lodging, and answer all our group’s questions ahead of time. He even met with our group over Zoom a few times before to discuss details. This was extremely helpful in the trip preparation and planning stage of the trip; his support made preparation for such a long trip to Tanzania as smooth as it could be!
On the trip, Kuntal was very friendly and fun to spend time with! He shared many funny and interesting stories from his mountaineering expeditions. I enjoyed hearing stories from such an incredibly accomplished vegan mountaineer, who is also down to earth and personable. He had a very positive attitude on our Kilimanjaro climb and supported team members throughout the climb. The food on the climb was excellent, and it was clear Kuntal had put a lot of effort in coordinating ahead of time to get specialty vegan items in Tanzania such as proteins and breads. After our climb, we enjoyed a celebratory dinner hosted by a local Tanzanian vegan chef who Kuntal coordinated with ahead of our trip as well.
I had an amazing experience on the Kilimanjaro climb that Kuntal led. I consider this trip among my most treasured memories. I personally plan to attend other trips with him in the future and would highly recommend his trips to others!
